The City of Solvang, our host for race weekend, offers world-class vineyards and a wide variety of restaurants to keep you fueled an entertained during race weekend. November is an ideal time to visit the valley, as the weather is temperate and the views are stunning.
Santa Barbara
Just a 20-minute drive from Rancho San Fernando Rey sits the central California Coast city of Santa Barbara. With it's Spanish colonial heritage, palm tree-lined streets, and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the town offers a robust list of options to explore. Offering outdoor adventure and serenity by the ocean, runners can experience the best of both worlds.
WHAT TO DO
November puts the Santa Ynez Valley on full display. Offering the last of the fall foliage, you'll be met with crisp mornings and warmer days as the valley begins to settle down for the winter.
The Santa Ynez Valley is home to six distinct towns, each with their own unique charm. Our home base for the weekend is the City of Solvang, known for its Danish-style architecture and filled with shopping, winery, and restaurant options along it's quaint streets. The area's activities will offer a relaxing fall respite after a weekend of trail running.
Rancho San Fernando Rey
Rancho San Fernando Rey is a private 30,000-acre ranch that sits within the Santa Ynez valley, just 25 minutes from the City of Solvang. The ranch features mountains, pastures, cliffs, vineyards, and olive groves. The Santa Ynez River runs through the property, with Loma Alta mountain offering panoramic views of Lake Cachuma, nearby valleys, and the Pacific Ocean on a clear day.
Rancho San Fernando Rey is a working cattle ranch. In order to respect the ranch, please adhere to the following:
- No parking is allowed on the ranch. All runners and spectators will take shuttles provided from the City of Solvang.
- While we all love dogs, no dogs are allowed on the ranch or on the shuttles, as we don't want to disturb the cattle.
- Runners will not be allowed on the ranch outside of allotted times during race weekend.
