Discover Vintage California
Runners will have the opportunity to experience a pristine California environment in its original state. The trails feature mountains, pastures, cliffs, vineyards, and olive groves. Additionally, the property includes the majestic Blue Oak Trees, endemic to this area, as well as creek and river crossing and the green sheen of serpentine, California’s state rock. There is an amazing story to tell about the unspoiled nature of this, up to now, private piece of land.
Untouched Natural Landscapes
The ranch is home to untouched terrain, featuring some of California’s finest scenery. The Santa Ynez River runs through the property and at the center of the property sits Loma Alta Mountain at 2,758 ft (840 meters), offering runners stunning views of Cachuma Lake and the surrounding valleys.
Exclusive Ranch Experience
Rancho San Fernando Rey is the perfect host for race weekend. This 30,000-acre private ranch is tucked in the Santa Ynez Valley and has over 100-miles of roads and trails just waiting to be explored. This ranch has previously been closed to the public, so runners at HOKA Pacific Trails California by UTMB will get an exclusive look into its beauty. The Start/Finish line, as well as BASECAMP (Expo), will be held in a rustic cattle ranch open barn, surrounded by endemic oak trees. Once you arrive at the ranch, you’ll be in the heart of the action.
UTMB Cares
Through UTMB Cares, we have set out to achieve something extraordinary by caring for the amazing environments that host our trail events. UTMB Cares is a program of The IRONMAN Foundation. Since 2003, over $55 million has been provided through IRONMAN and IRONMAN Foundation charitable giveback programs to more than 10,000 local, regional, national, and global nonprofit initiatives. Including $50,000 in grant funding for clean-up and restoration efforts of the Western States Trail, enjoyed by The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB® runners, in partnership with Western States Endurance Run and The Tevis Cup. Together, we are on a quest to engage our community and care for our race surroundings through grant funding and volunteerism efforts.
